EZGO speed control box
Hi. New to this forum. I have a '97 electric cart. It's not working right now and thus the reason for me to find a forum such as this one. I took it to a local dealer to determine what's wrong. After hearing the control box is out I paid 20 bucks for their time and took the cart home with me not fixed....
Basically i want to know if there is any other option on replacing this box other than a new one? This will be the second one for this cart which would exceed the total of what i paid for it. They want around 450 bucks for these things. And I'm going through one once a year. So, if i can't find another way to fix it cheaper I'll probably save the money and put it towards another cart-maybe a gasser. Any suggestions? Can i give you any information that will help? The controller informatuion is as follows: P/N 73144G06 S/N 9118-PO15898 Thanks in advance for your time. Pete |

Re: EZGO speed control box
The controller you are using appears to be for a DCS cart and that was a weak spot on those carts although they should be fine if you are in the stock form.
If you have any mods like lifted, bigger tires, rear seat or subject the cart to anything other than neighborhood and golf course you should be using a larger controller. My suggestion is something like an Alltrax DCX400 - 400 amp. |

Re: EZGO speed control box
A couple of options are rebuilt (same controller as before) but used refurbished and cheaper .... Your cart is a DCS system, they are known for controller failures. You must avoid any low voltage situation to protect the controller. A Battery Meter is a MUST on those carts.
There are tougher upgraded controllers available from Curtis and Alltrax. |

Re: EZGO speed control box
Does anyone have any info on repairing the speed control box? What components typically go bad, etc.
