Default Cart has sat for about a year...

We have just bought a home and negociated a used EZ-GO electric to get to the boat dock. ( yes the cart is Green & Tan just like my Lund so I am off to a good start :) The downside is, prior owner says batteries are newer, but the cart has sat in the garage for over a year- not on the charger..

I have read the "before you post" thread... I need some instruction please..

""Most chargers will not come on unless they sense a certain voltage coming from the main battery pack.....around 28 volts or so. They will vary from charger to charger. You can use an automotive type 12 volt charger to charge 2 six volt batteries at a time to get the voltage up enough for the golf cart charger to take over.
""

I have SIX batteries & the charger so I assume I have a 36 Volt cart. When charging 2 of the 6 volt batteries at a time with a 12V auto charger- do I leave 2 of the batteries wired in series and disconnect the others ?

Am I to charge all "3 pairs" this way, until I get a good enough charge for the main EZ-GO charger to work properly ?

Thank you for all your help getting this baby back on the road. I will post pictures as soon as possible...

Two 6v volt batteries in series is 12v. So negative to positive to get the 12v.

Leave all the cart cables attached. Before you try and charge them, make sure the plates are covered with distilled water.

Yes, leave all the battery pack cables attached, and attach your 12v automotive clips across the first 2 batteries in the pack AFTER you prove to yourself with a multimeter that you are attaching to a 12v pair. Then move upstream 2 batteries for the next pair (prove it with the meter again), and move upstream again for the last pair.

Ok, now I understand the procedure !

btw, typically after sitting for a year, can these batteries be saved?

I give it a 50/50 chance to get them up to correct voltage and range, but their lifespan has been irreversibly shortened.

Let me see if I got this right. The first 2 batteries in line I will connect the positive of the charger to the positive of 1 battery and the negative to negative to the other battery.
