Want to install a Tow Switch/Kill Switch

I think this is the right section to post this thread but im not too sure.



I am building my 2000 EZGO TXT from the ground up and how i want it. However, the more i do to it and the more money i put into it the more it makes me nervous about someone stealling my investment. I work in insurance and have already gotten myself a quote to insure it just incase something were to happen but i want to to have a fail safe in plan, just me being a little proactive about it.

I would like to install a toggle switch under the seat somewhere as a kill switch/tow switch concept where it will kill all the power and without knowing where it is or that it exists someone cant take it for a joy ride or just drive off with it.

I have searched the fourm for previous threads where someone may have wanted to do the same thing but came up empty, not sure if i did it right of if im just retarted (might be a little of both). I was hoping someone has done this before and can tell em what and how to do it or just point me in the right direction.

I install this on the batteries in between 2 of them and hide it out of sight.
Works pretty good, the only thing is U have to have it turned on to charge the batteries.
Blue Sea Systems Mini battery switches are just 2-7/8" square but rated 300A continuous/500A intermittent/1500A cranking at up to 48V.
More than enough amps to handle most carts.

You can also disable (interrupt or cut off with a toggle switch) the solenoid activation circuit. Without solenoid activation, the controller has no access to the battery pack. These are the small wires to the Solenoid. Post a pic of your solenoid small wires and we may be able to tell which one gets the switch.... or you can disconnect one and see if the solenoid still clicks. If not you found it. I added a simple toggle switch off the 18 ga wire (think red) on the controller and placed it under the seat where I cant be seen. just find which wire stops the solenoid from clicking and add in the toggle switch. I have had mine like this for three years and its worth the peace of mind. Also I got a Harley dyna key switch off of ebay for $18.00 and put that in so im not keyed like everyone else .

Could you give me a little more info on this?

would you wire one battery cable you this and the then the this to the next battery?

I currently have a 36v cart nd plan on upgrading to a 48v system down the raod, would this still work with that?

I just ordered a new solenoid so when i go to wire it i will look through the wires to find this, if i cant find the correct wire i will post a picture for help.

Would the toggle switch have to be in the on possition to charge the batteries like the above refferenced switch?

So you added the toggle switch from the charging cable to the solenoid or from the solenoid to the barrery or motor?

That seems like a great idea but i feel like its just another key to try and keep track of. My only fear is if i lose it when im out and bout im stuck where ever im at.

The on/off box switch is inline with the batteries are You could put it in line with one of the motor cables and it want effect the charger at all.

Here is an alternative to the kill sw. This would help if you are worried about kids playing on it and having it roll away and hurting one. It's called a wheel lock. Cheap liability insurance

You would need two of those single pole switches because there are two sets of wires that need switched on PDS cart tow/run switch. Factory tow/run is double pole.

I have a series style cart and i was told that if i put a toggle switch in line of the power wire going to the solenoid I would make a kill switch to the cart. No power to that, no movement on the cart.
