Dana Differential.....
What is the circular item below the main input shaft? Is this an access point to something? Just wondering.... |

There is one on the opposite side as well. When replacing gears this exposes the shaft and snap rings to remove the intermediate gear. There is a recent post about just these soft plugs and a gear swap but I couldn't find it easily.

Some folks have success pulling them with a sheet metal screw.
and then plugging the hole. I have never been able to reuse a welsh plug in my life. |

there is also a 4X4 kit on the market that utilizes the outside plug to engage a drive shaft that goes to the front differential. I forget who makes it, but I remember reading about it a year or so ago. I think Stealth also uses this for that purpose on their carts as well.
