Re: New to me...
Can I buy a new set of cables, or is it something that I will have to make myself?

Re: New to me...
Check out our sponsors page, there are many sources out there to buy a pre-made set of welding cables, or if you have a crimper that can handle larger wire you can make them yourself.

Re: New to me...
I bought a hammer style crimper http://www.wiringproducts.com/contents/en-us/d41.html like this one to make up my connections. I buy 4 ga leading wire from local welding supply house. You can buy eyelets online or at auto parts. Online is cheaper. I use a small propane torch to heat the eyelets and solder them. Then I sink wrap the ends to make a clean and safe connection. I started out with a wiring cable kit but now I make my own because you get what length you get in a kit and some too long some barely make the trip.

Re: New to me...
I do so many custom setups that I have to make my own..... Plus, I make them so much cheaper than I can buy them....
I use this for all my power wiring: http://www.wiringproducts.com/contents/en-us/p247.html and I use this for all my control wiring: http://www.wiringproducts.com/contents/en-us/p3993.html Heat shrinking is a must for all custom builds with connections that could be near water (battery compartment especially), but I rarely solder the wires as the crimper I use is more than enough. |
