Default Question series EZGO (New Batteries and Solenoid)

This is to help a friend that doesn't have a computer. He wanted me to ask you guys what you thought could be the problem after he installed new batteries and solenoid on his fleet txt.

He sent over some pics for you guys to look it. The cart will run if jumped across the solenoid he claimed. I'm not there to use my meter but any quick thoughts?

Batteries are completely charged and the reverse horn will sound, but no solenoid "clicks" if not jumped.

Thanks in advance for any info.

Usually when you jumper the large posts of a solenoid, and the cart works correctly, it indicates the solenoid is bad OR the solenoid control circuit is dead. Control circuit can be tested with a multimeter. If the voltage increases when the pedal is pushed, the control circuit is working.

I'll tell him to start there, but if the circuits bad where is this coming from the controller?

This is a great description of the control circuit:

the power then goes through a 4 pin Molex connector and travels to the "pedal Box" (located under the floorboard of the car) where it goes through a micro and comes out on another red wire.

you might also want to let him know that is the wrong solenoid for that particular cart. The original solenoid installed on that cart was a White Rodgers HD 586 solenoid. Those little silver cans are only rated for about 100 AMPS and the controller in that cart will pull alot more than the silver solenoid can handle.

In the battery pic, I see the wire for the factory light kit used on freedoms and the controller sure looks like the long body Curtis 350 AMP controllers that they use in the freedom model so I am gonna assume it's a freedom.

Very good point!! Thanks for the heads up. I'm sure when he bought that one it probably wasn't from a cart dealer. Thanks again!

If that is a 12v automotive solenoid it is probably allready burned out on the Primary side from the 36v activation circuit.

I also see no diode on the activation wires (red and black).
