Help with upgrades for CC
Ok, I've read through a ton of threads & can't find exactly what I'm looking for. I have a 92 CC DS 36 volt with a 6" lift & 23" tires and I'm looking for upgrades. I'm not interested as much in speed, as I am torque. (better off roading???) So the request that I have of BGW members is for someone to put together a simple list for me, call it an "upgrades for dummies list" so to speak, of all the cart particular upgrades that I could do for more power. I'm not clear or up to date on all the acronyms, ie. F&R, OBC, etc, so please spell it out for me in laymen terms. I really appreciate the help.

Re: Help with upgrades for CC
I will definitely be looking forward to upcoming posts.
I just got an 88 DS gas and was looking for the same exact thing only in gas. Except I'm on a budget and can't throw out thousands. |

Re: Help with upgrades for CC
I would look into D&D motors for an upgrade. The speed motor on my cart did wonders

Re: Help with upgrades for CC
It's reference to the size of the cables I have on my cart. Most use 4 gauge while I used 2/0 and 1/0 gauge welding cable. It's a hell of a lot bigger than 4 gauge! Is it overkill? Probably, but it was free so why not

Re: Help with upgrades for CC
If any of your buddies weld or have welding cable laying around I would use that since it'll be cheaper. Otherwise the 4 gauge would handle anything most likely.
If you were in South Carolina I would hook you up with some welding lead. I still have a ton of it lying around |

Power Upgrades D&D Motor (Torque or Torque and Speed) Alltrax 500 Amp Controller (Likely for series cart) 400 Amp Solenoid 4 Gauge Battery Cables Heavy Duty Front & Rear Switch (If your cart is a series cart) I think your cart is a resistor cart with v-glide. So I think you'll need to replace the resistor setup. Someone more knowledgeable than I can help here. Your cart is 36 Volt. So you will want to switch over to 48 volt if you want to get significant torque gains. That means replacing the Batteries when doing the other upgrades. 6 - 8Volt Batteries (suggest Trojan or US Battery) There may be easy/cheaper options for your cart, but this will get you a hill climbing, muck busting beast. The power upgrades are very similar to my setup. I got mine setup like this to go hunting - I did not try to do this myself. This is a big job - I suggest you get with someone like Scotty B. |
