Voltage reducer Question

I want to install lights on my 08 Precedent. It has 4 12 V batteries.

I do not want to install anything else that would require electric.

I have never owned a cart so a lot of this is Greek to me.

- What type or brand of voltage reducer do I need ?

- When you install it do you need to disconnect your batteries ?

- If the batteries are disconnected do you need to do anything to the OBC or does it just reset itself ?

- is it worth installing a battery meter, my cart mechanic says they are all crap and dont work ... is this correct ? If not which one is a good one ?

You need to think about how you will use your cart. If younwill be driving a lot at night using lights then I would opt for a reducer. If you drive like me, where I very rarely use my lights then you would probably be ok just using one of the 12 volt batts. You will hear a lot of different thoughts here but you need to figure out how you will be using your cart.

Just so you know though, I have a reducer on a switch so it is not always drawing power from the bats, that way I only turn it on when I need it. BTW, you would need a 48v to 12 volt reducer preferrably 25 amps.

If you disconnect the batteries and reconnect you do not need to do anything to the obc.
Whenever doing work on the cart put switch in tow, then disconnect the positive terminal and then the negative terminal to the pack. When you hook back up put the negative terminal on first then the positive.
