Default Want more speed, need advice. 97 CC

I own a 48v 1997 Club car lifted with 22" tires the batts are 2 yrs old and well kept. I'm looking to get 25mph out of it. Currently on a flat road it'll do 15-17 mph.

I've been looking at motors, controllers and other upgrades. It's all confusing. I see motors rated at 5hp claiming 20 mph, then i see motors 3hp claiming 22mph! I dont get how the power is determined when a lower hp motor goes faster than one with more hp.

Anyway, whats the easiest cheapest way to get 25+MPH.

I'd like to go with a 36v motor for more speed, but they are hard to find.

Do I need a new motor, controller, wires or all three? Can i go with just a controller?

Thanks.

Do a google search as follows

5.5 hp @ 5700 rpm

You will find your answer

Expensive google search.

Hoping to stay under $1000. Didn't realize 25mph cost so much.

So you're saying just buy the motor? No need for a controller, wires or selector switch?

controller and larger wires will do that easy. The stock controller doesnt let many amps thru it. swap it with wires that will handle it and your good to go

We upgraded one with just the motor and ran fine for many yeard, torque wasnot as good as upgrading comtroller but it worked fine. Try it and if you dont like it then upgrade controller, it really is not a lit different than going to a 36 volt motor.

It only works with bigger tires but you may need a lift kit so might as well start with a good motor and build from there. Sorry but just controller and wire is not gunna do much.

The cart will remain the same as far as lift and tire size go.

I do plan on upgrading the wires to 4g no matter what else happens.

Any idea where I could find a used 36 volt motor? My grandfather has a 92 36v resistor cart. I might see if I can try his motor just to see what I can expect before I buy one.

36 volt motor might be a good option if you find one cheap
