Default We're Doin a STRETCH

We've gotten our feet wet with doing 4 seaters and customizing some 2 seaters and we're looking to step our game up a little bit. Found a 2008 Precedent on CL a few weeks back that was used as a maintenance cart at a community out on Longboat Key. Gave the guy $1200, threw it on the trailer and brought it home. The cart has been used a lot on shell but all of the mechanicals are working fine and the 4 12 volt batteries were changed in late 15. I began tearing down the cart to get to the frame so that we can mount the bolt on kit. We are thinking about converting this to 6 8 volts to increase the range and since it already has the bucket to accept the 8v's there is no bucket switch needed. I was wondering if we need to change the harness if we are going to be running all of the lights and accessories off of a separate 12 volt battery with fuse block? I would assume that 48v is 48v and only the harness switch is needed if you are hooking up the lights to the pack? Can any of you guys answer this for me? Below are some pics of the tear down. Also, you will see from some of the pics, there is some battery acid/rust marking on the cross member below where the battery bucket goes. Anyone have a good method on how to get this off?

You're good to go, the 6/8's will drop right in there. New cables and you're good to go.
Make sure you don't already have a 48 - 12 reducer on the cart. I don't see any lights or accessories, so probably not.
Get a reducer from a site sponsor. Cartsunlimited (scottyb) or Revolution Golf Cars (TahoeDawgZ71), either one can fix you up.

Several guys on here have used Eagle One Etching Mag Wheel cleaner with great success to clean up the aluminum.

Kashmir,
Thanks for the reply on the mag cleaner! We've done ScottyB's volt reducer pack on the carts we've done so far and love that set up. We are thinking about adding separate 12v battery in the seat pod with a separate 12v onboard charger and On/Off battery switch to run all of the accessories. Any input on that?

I've got a 12 volt battery in the bagwell of my Precedent with an onboard charger.
Love it, runs the lights, stereo and USB charge ports.
Now draining the brand new Crown CR190's!

For the cross member rust repair, you need to remove it for the stretch anyways, so I would have it sand blastered and epoxy painted. Fun project to do, here's s mine.

nsane,
would you mind taking a picture of your dash area? It looks like you have something aftermarket and I'd like to see it. Thanks!
