Default Ever seen a CC charger like this?

My grandson purchased a "95 CC DS. Runs good. It is a series cart. 48v. Looks to be pretty much original although I'm not a CC expert. This is the charger that came with it. It is a powerdrive but this looks like a modification to me and not a factory part. Could this be a modification to the charger to make it work with a failed or bypassed OBC?

I had one just like it on a cart I traded for. I am almost certain you are correct in your assumption, it is modified for cart with disabled OBC.

If I recall correctly, it would only work on one of my cc carts, and the standard factory charger would not charge that particular cart

Those "timer devices" were not intended to be used with a Powerdrive charger which is basically a power supply.

You have no way to regulate the current so it basically does a bulk charge until it reaches the maximum voltage.

Timers would work well with a Ferroresonat charger since they regulate the output current as the pack voltage rises with the charging.

I understand this to mean that basically the charger is chronically undercharging the batteries and hastening end of life. Correct?

I think it is just a step above plugging a by-passed powerdrive by hand and unplugging it above 60v+.

There are better options in the smart charger models.

Thanks everyone. Should have known the answer was already on the forum somewhere and now that RIB dug it up I vaguely remember it. Stupid brain.
