If the meter is reading pack voltage of 48v or so at rest then say, 5-10v when you try to go then that would confirm the repair is the issue.

Ok thank you all for setting me straight on the repair. I just came back in from putting the meter on it and you are right the voltage went down rapidly when we stepped on the accelerator. After the initial test then the voltage was all over the place.
With your help I can be pretty certain that the repaired battery is the whole problem.
I will get another battery tomorrow, I dont believe that the damaged post is really repairable.

Just to finish this off, bought and installed new battery, cart took off just like it is suppose to do. Runs fine now, thanks everyone for your help
