Do it right. Get real auto paint from an auto paint shop. One step single stage (clear coat is built in) is fine. Get a cheapo spray gun from Walmart. They cost all of $20 and deliver a much better finish than a rattle can. For that price you don't even clean it you just throw it away when done. For all of $75 total you will have a much nicer finish that will never crack or peel off.

I don't care what kind of rattle can you use. Unless your cart is garage kept it's going to flake.

Wow, What kind of auto paint do you get for 50 bucks??? House paint maybe. Quart of color here is 50-100$ depending on color, 65 for hardener and another 30 for reducer and other essentials. Now I realize one will have leftover hardener and reducer for the next project but still,,,

I used Dupli-color perfect match auto paint with great results. My cart is sanded, primed, painted Ford shadow gray and cleared with high gloss USC spray max 2k. Holding up great after 2 years of getting beat up in the woods.

harbor fright spray guns are actually pretty good too

spray bomb paint is so thin it's not worth doing if you want a decent paint job
automotive finishes go on 10 times thicker and have hardener mixed in to give a better paint job

A quart will do two carts.

Whatever on the price. The point is not the price but the quality of the job. Everyone on this forum has seen many carts that look like poo poo due to rattle can jobs that may have looked ok at first but 5 - 10 years later......poo poo. Using real paint is far easier than people think, it wont break the bank, and even first timers can get good results that last.

110% agree. The time it takes to prep for a decent job is not worth scrimping on materials!

If a buyer pulls up on a Silverado the paint name might suddenly change to GM pewter metallic!

The yellow cart is rattle can and the orange one is spry gun. Night and day when you stand next to them. The orange cart out shines the yellow cart.
