Default Going to look at a non-running DS

Hey guys, I'm going to look at a 2000ish DS that I know is not running at this time. The add says it needs batteries and I was hoping to buy it cheap and then build it exactly how I'd like it.

Are there any major issues I need to look for, that could make me get into something that will cost $$$ just to correct?

Thanks

Make sure it has a nice set of rims and tires on it. They can get expensive.

Make sure the controller powers up if you plan to use it and the motor is not grounded. And if it is a Regen 2 cart, know that there will be a few more things you have to do to get it running. (Although the new Alltrax is only a few weeks away)

Inspect the undercarriage and roll it back and forth to inspect (listen) to the gear box, axles and motor assembly. Check the steering gear box and the rack assembly, including the tie rod ends. Check for butchered wiring or damage to the harness.

If I were looking at it I would take a mirror and open the seat and look at the upper frame that holds the seat back . They are notorious for breaking and can get expensive in a hurry to repair. I would also jack up the rear, turn the wheels checking for smoothness and noises like grinding. Good Luck
