Here's a couple pics of how to do it first one is the arm drilled out second is with it sitting in place third is the washer tacked to the rod coming out of the rear end (dont weld it to arm you want arm to turn freely on shaft)

Thanks slonomo.
You're right on the money. My G1 has been laying down a smoke screen when I get it thoroughly warmed up. The muffler has been apparently loading up with oil as you point out. I'll start running a 100:1 mix. BTW, you mentioned in an earlier post that there's a procedure for eliminating the governor and all the assorted linkage. Could you point me toward it?
