Is this a bad clutch?
Just started making this noise. Sounds like it coming from the driven clutch.

Possibly.
Look at the driven clutch while it's running and see if the clutch is wobbling or if the belt is jumping or chattering in the clutch. Check that the belt is pulled all the way up to the top of the sheaves and that the sheaves are closed all the way when the engine is not running. If the sheaves are gapped apart the clutch spring has broken or it's jammed. Also check the three slide buttons where they engage the ramps on the back side of the helix and see if they are broken or severely worn. If the buttons break it will also break the spring in the clutch. After checking those, remove the drive belt and see if it still makes the same noise. |
