Default Which Tiny Tach to use?

I am installing a new kawasaki FE 400 in my cart. i am planning on installing a tiny tach to track rpm's as well as hours in use for service schedule. my question is, do the kawaski motors spark once per revolution? wouldn't a true 4-cycle only spark once every 2 revolutions? i see there are many models of tiny tachs and they are not all the same. which model does everyone use?

No, it's impossible for a 4-stroke engine to spark every revolution and run correctly. All of the FE series engines are 4-stroke, so they have an intake, compression, power, and exhaust stroke.

I don't know much about the Tiny Tachs, but I did want to let you know about the engines.

it's not impossible.. many small 4 stroke engines spark every revolution between the exhaust and intake strokes and at the compression stroke to ignite the fuel / air mixture. i don't know why, but i know this is common operation on many small 4 strokes.

Well they have to spark at the top of the compression stroke. If they didn't the engine would make no power. The only reason I could for it sparking at every TDC (or a few degrees before) would be that the magneto ignition is sending spark each time. However, these golf car engines have electronic ignition through ignitors.

Would a tach that can adjust for 4-6-8 cylinder engines work?
