1995 Ez Go Gas Help
my cart will start, the drive clutch will spin but will not engage (it has to move forward to engage the belt, not sure what that is called) the belt that makes the driven clutch turn also. While in Neutral both will spin.
I do not know what is wrong, and I hope i make sense. Any ideas Plus it smokes alot more than it ever did while the engine is running. |

The smoking? do you have to much oil in it? can you tell us some history about it? did it start running bad and smoking all at once? has it been maintained? |

Re: 1995 Ez Go Gas Help
i bought this used, so i have no idea the past history. I had a tune up done by a local ez go dealer and they changed filter, plugs and oil for me. they also checked the belts and said everything was good with them. i did have to put the starter belt back on because a stick got wedged in there. After i got that back on it took me a few days to get it running again. After I got it running it ran for one day and then the current problems started.
How do i check or tell if there are not enough rpms. |

Re: 1995 Ez Go Gas Help
Are the rpms lower than when you first got it? sorry this is one of those "duh" things on my part. I can tell if the engines not running up to speed because i've been around so many of them.
check the pcv hose going to the crankcase from the air filter box, make sure nothings wrong with it. If the cart is lifted then filling the oil to the mark on the dip stick will be to much oil and it'll probably burn some. burning oil will foul the plugs. If it did suck in oil there will be some in the muffle that'll have to burn off. A compression test would give helpful info if you do it right (most people don't) the service manual tells the proper way. all manuals are in the tech section It shouldn't take much to engage the clutch, i've seen them stick open before, maybe rap on it with a dead blow mallet some might free it up. I use my hand instead to free them up to give you an idea of how much force it takes to free them, most of the time it works. what i'm trying to say is don't beat the **** out of it with a hammer. you could always take the cover off and clean /inspect it. |
