Ok then that is what is happening. The cover does spring back. And the sheave is floating. But when the bolts were in it was easy to push with one hand but it did return. It just doesnt close when the engine is reved up. Like I said im unable to get the big bolt off at the moment.

Re: Golf cart will start but wont move
It sounds like one of the weights inside the clutch is messed up. You should be able to see then if you push the outer sheave in, and keep the cover out.

Ok I was looking around online at different springs and some say that it will increase the speed of the golf cart. You think those would be worth switching for or just stay with the original one if it is ok to use still? And what do I look for on the weights?

Re: Golf cart will start but wont move
Stick with the original spring until you get the clutch sorted out.
The weights are mounted on a pin. They should pivot freely on the pins, and not show signs of excessive wear. Side play will cause them to stick. |

Re: Golf cart will start but wont move
Pull the big cover off the clutch toward the plate with the 6 screw holes in it.
Now that the 6 screws are out, it should just pull off the outer sheave. |

The spring looks in good shape. Can you get some pics of the weights?
