Default Engine bay foam

Any of you replace the engine bay foam insulation with anything? I started cleaning up under the seat last weekend and tore most of it out. I may use some ballistic mat in there to keep it quiet... maybe there's something more application specific out there. Probably about time I start a built thread, too.

Most of it is there to keep the engine heat (and some noise) away from the driver.

I need the same thing. What's a good replacement material for this? I wonder about that dyna mat stuff used for car audio installations?

Now I see that A-Z website has quite a few choices. Dynamat is so expensive, too.

I had the same question, and ended up going with FatMat. It's similar to DynaMat, but it's a bit thicker and has an aluminum coating over it that adds additional heat resistance. I was able to cover most of the inside of the body, and the access panel to quiet down my ride.

Go to a junk yard and get the liner from a hood.
