Moderators, is there a way I can clean up this thread? It seems to get a lot of views and I'd like to go through it and remove some of the non-essential posts.

Thanks

Not sure if I am posting this question to the right forum or not? But I have a 1982 Yamaha G1 Cart with a noise and was hoping that someone might be able to help me determine exactly what is causing it?
The noise is a "Clanging sound" when I am accelerating or give it some gas. I suspect it might be the clutch or maybe the belts? It seems to run alright... Hesitates when I am trying to accelerate but does start and run. I am in the process of trying to fix it up and would appreciate any help in this venture.
Thanks in advance

This thread will contain the basics about G1 carts, maintenance, common problems and solutions, lift kit and tire information, and custom modifications.

Let's keep this thread clean for the new forum members so they can read "everything" about G1's.

Thanks to everyone that wants to contribute, and good luck!
Sorry but can not find how to summit new thread?

Does anyone have blueprints on a rear lift kit for a g1?

I assume you are looking to fabricate your own lift kit?

I don't have "blueprints" but here are some photos of what I made years ago to match an atv front suspension. Basically just some angle steel, and square tube built to accept the use of atv shocks for a 6" lift.

I would like to share some pics of how I keep my old small carb ball joints and other carb and exhaust linkages from popping off and stay on the sockets. I use small zip ties which works very well. Sometimes I use them in a criss-cross pattern. It works very well and helps you from loosing parts accidentally if one pops off. I try different sizes to see which work the best without binding. I will post some pics.

I bet I am not the first person to do this but I am just sharing what I do on My G1 in a few threads here on the G1s for Newbies. I like to keep things as stock as I can on my 1982 G1.

I also found some of the plastic ball joints on Amazon for a EZGO that are suppose to work but they are 30 dollars for 10 each. I am going to purchase some later this year and see if they actually work but I was wondering if anyone else here had tried them. Here is the link.

Thanks and I hope this post helps someone and I appreciate all those who post things here that have helped me over the past 15 years.

Joe
