Question Starter solenoid help ('91 CC)...

Solenoid went out so being the cheapskate I am (and needing the cart for work ), can I use a lawn tractor solenoid on it?
As usual, search is of no help to me.

Can't say I've ever tried that (or would choose to). But if it's a 12V solenoid, I could see it possibly working out.

The start solenoid should just be a regular 12v solenoid. It may not fit right but function should be the same. Not all solenoids wire quite the same. To make it hit some of them use 1 of the front signal posts and ground through the mount. A quick check with a multimeter will answer that.

It will work but only for a few minutes since the coil in a typical solenoid is only made for a short duty cycle. I found out the hard way when I tried to do the sane thing (in a different application). It worked for about 10 minutes then the solenoid coil burnt up.
There are solenoids made for continuous duty and you might find something like that. The typical starter solenoid just won't hold up.

Went ahead and put it on (hey, it was free from a scrapped lawn tractor ). Seems to be working fine. I'll let you know if it goes out.
