Default TXT engine trouble.... I think...

Hey guys...finally got the cart painted and put back together!!!! Felt like forever but nothing is ever easy! Anyway.... I put it back together and drove it around the block to my brothers house so I could show off the new paint and half way down the dirt road I started losing power and was basically running half throttle. Now I am used to slowing down when in the sand but even when I hit the pavement the power never stepped back up. Any ideas of what my problem is...ran fine as far as I know when I pulled it apart for paint. Cart is 1998 ez go gas text.
Thanks guys!

I'd go through and check all of your wiring connections. Check for a loose grounds. Maybe something got bumped while you were removing the body.

Seems like it could be fuel related though.

I'll double check wiring but I didn't remove the body...I made it hard on myself and just painted it still on the cart.

I don't know why I assumed you did. I probably would have left it on too.

Maybe the carb is gummed up?

I could see it if you removed the body. You know, end up bumping a wire or knocking something loose. Being that you painted it in place I don't see how anything you did while painting could've caused an issue. With all of the ethanol in the gas nowadays carbs get gummed up all of the time. The first thing I would do is check all wire connections, check plugs, make sure plug wires are good, and then clean the carb.

A lot of times if an engine is running good when you park it, and then runs like crap, it's usually a dirty carb. Either that or mice love chewing on the rubber coating on wiring.

May have a dirty fuel filter, something in pickup tube, restriction in fuel line, tank vent clogged, etc. Check all the fuel related items. Air filter clean?
How about the drive belt? Is it possibly worn and slipping?
