Lights on 85 club car suddenly stopped
Ok so I have a 1985 36v club car. All the lights have been working great but all of a sudden all of them ( headlights taillight sand turn signals)all stopped. My switches both seem to be working properly. But I checked with test light at head lights and tail lights and I have power to them. My question is can they all burn out at once or am I missing something?

Sounds like you're missing the ground (neg.) side. Trace a ground wire back to the battery. probably find bad connecter.

Re: Lights on 85 club car suddenly stopped
How are the lights powered? Some carts use two of the 6V batteries. Follow the power from there to the switches and look for an open. The system is not grounded to your cart frame so the negative for all of the lights has to go to one of the batteries. The only way all of the lights would burn out is if they somehow got way more than 12V on them.

Re: Lights on 85 club car suddenly stopped
Thanks for the info. Trying to figure out the wiring for this looks like the guy that had it before me did it himself. Be nice to have a diagram of how he wired it. Checked the lights they work so now just have to find the ground. The guy used all red wires

Look for extra wires on the batteries mid pack. Often, lights run off two of the six batteries.

You need to get a volt meter and measure the voltage at the lights. It shouldn't be more than 12-13 volts. If you got power at each light I suspect they are blown.

hey,
sure, if you detected power through the wires up until the actual fixtures themselves the bulbs may have blown. the car does not have a reducer on it does it? black or silver box thing somewhere? -steve |
