G8 slipping belt help
So I have a G8 cart. I've replaced the belt and clutch spring but it still squals when you take off. The longer you ride it the worse it gets. We rode it for 15-20 mins today. Did several stop and goes with little issues except a few short slips. We stopped for about 5 mins to talk to a friend and went to take off and was slipping bad. Any suggestions? It's a new belt.

Re: G8 slipping belt help
Remove belt and replace with factory belt or a high quality Dayco HD Kevlar belt.

Re: G8 slipping belt help
So do you have any part numbers? What is the part number for the oem belt? At this point I wouldn't mind spending some extra on a higher quality belt.

Re: G8 slipping belt help
DBYAJ57H aftermarket kevlar, or J55-G6241 for oem yamaha. I dont know don plowmans belt part numbers, but his are top-notch too as far as I know (www.plowmanscarts.com).
The best belt in the world cant fix messed up clutches, so if that's the problem, itll be back soon. |

Re: G8 slipping belt help
I'm not sure as the primary. The secondary has a new clutch spring. I guess the only thing left would be the primary clutch? What do I look for?

Re: G8 slipping belt help
The faces of the clutches need to be smooth and straight. If they are "dished" or have any irregularity to the surface, they should be replaced.
The new spring in the secondary is good, but there is more to it. There are plastic buttons on the helix where the two parts mate up, there are angled "ramps". The plastic buttons are there to protect the metal from wear and also allow the ramps to slide easily as the clutch shifts. Those buttons and the helixes need to be in good order. If the clutches are original and have been well used, they probably need replaced. The are wearable items. |
