Default Early YDRA G29 problems

I have read on the forum that the '07-'09 YDRA's have several serious issues, but I can't find out what they are. I just got a 2008 that has seen very little use. The dealer has flipped the governor spring and the cart was sold to the first owner as a street legal LSV here in Arizona. My question is, what problems will I have and what precautions should I take to avoid them. The cart is running very good and quite fast.
thanks, Brooks

Welcome to BGW and the golf car "twilitezone"! There were problems with the brake pedal group, Yamaha basicly enclosed the area and dirt and moisture would collect causing the pivot shafts to seize and strip the accelerator pedal and/or make the brake pedal sticky, you most likely wont have that problem with a on road car. Check the rear axle shaft hubs for tightness, there should be no play. Check the passangerside rear axle bearing for play. There is a scondary update, we drill the secondary to move it closer to the transaxle case and install a new belt and collars, this can stop any "chirping/grabbing when takeing off. Never heard of "flipping" the govenor spring, I use Tom's "CPP-site sponsor" "speed spring. Lets see some pictures of your new toy.

Thanks for the welcome! I realized I may not have posted on this forum before. I have done a lot of mods on an electric EZGO but this is my first gasser. I just sold a GEM car and was able to get this Yamaha. So far there is no grabbing, but the belt does squeak unless acceleration is r e a l slow. I have an old work order that says belt slipping -00 replaced with-10. I am getting the service manual so I will understand what the heck your talking about! I assume the rear axel is like most, a cover, a cotter pin through the axel nut. I know on the EZ electric we tightened the crap out of that nut to keep from spinning a hub. This cart like many others had been in for backfire. At this time it's pretty plain, white with custom seats and a rear plexi. I was golfing today with a guy driving an '80, stinks but still has good compression and he uses it every day. Flipping the spring is a term I read where the spring is relocated rendering it usless the governor is no longer effective. I got a picture, my governor spring is hooked up right
thanks, Brooks
