Default g1 and g2 axle and transmission question

Hi everyone im new here im built a lifted g1 with a 420cc clone engine for fun offroading. But it is only fun till I need to reverse and cant no reverse in g1 I got a hold of a g2 cart for parts can i swap the g2 transmission into the g1 axle. I know the g2 is offset so I cant do a direct axle swap and the mounting will need to be changed but will the g1 slide right in and bolt of to the g2 transmission without any issues. Any help is greatly appreciated thanks

Welcome to BGW!

Just swap out the entire rear end.

Thanks for the welcome and the reply but I was hoping to not have to move the motor and just change the transmission since the g2 transmission is shifted to one side. Would the trannys be interchangeable

I'm not sure, but I don't think that will work.

Yeah the G2 secondary clutch location is different than the G1. You'll have to make some modifications to get it right, but shouldn't be too bad. Grinder, welder, level, bandaids and beer....should be enough to get you going.

Yeah the G2 was built near the end of the G1's production run, its similar but different. There is another thread about it here, a few in fact. Some may be in the clones section.
