g1 front lift tie rod help please
I have a 80 g1 that I used 400ex shocks for the rear and have 400ex shocks for the front. I tore the whole front apart last night and have all my plates cut for the front tomorrow and will start assembling it. I am moving the front arms down 4" in the center but I am not sure on how I want to raise the tie rod ends 4". I was originally thinking about swapping spindles left for right which I thought I read on here guys that have done that. But it does not look like it will work they will hit the shock mount before you get tires turned very far at all. All the searching I have done am not finding very good pictures of how guys are changing the steering. Please post some pictures of how you did that or am I missing something.

Re: g1 front lift tie rod help please
My Jakes lift came with modified arms to bring the tie rod ends up with the lift. I just fabbed a lift for a buddy's G1 and we used 6" of heavy gauge pipe and some flat stock to bring it up. Works fine.
Read through some G1 build threads and even other yamaha's. Plenty of pics to get ideas from. Page 3 in this thread has pics of tie rod: http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/lifte...1-build-3.html Page 3 & 5 of this build has tie rod modifications. http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/lifte...-8-lift-5.html |

Thanks I did some searching and all the threads I have seen they don't show pics how they do the tie rods. But both of them threads give me some more ideas.

Re: g1 front lift tie rod help please
with 4" you should be able to use the tie rods without modification...

I don't see how you can do it with out moding the tie rod mount height do to them wanting to bind. Unless I am missing something or you bend them somewhere.

Re: g1 front lift tie rod help please
Yea I seen how you did it which yours is newer so your arms bolt on my spindles are different and made to spindle so just a little more work. But I am looking how he did it with out any spacers. Did you just bend the end of the arm a little to take some pressure of the tie rod end.
