EZGO 2012 Express S4 fast then slow

Hello,
I have a 2012 EZGO Express S4, 48v. 2 year old batteries (proper water fill), pack charge just fine, new 4 AWG cables throughout. Cart runs in protection mode at 8mph. I can stop the cart, flip the Tow/Run Switch, it goes back up to around 18 mph for as long as I want until I stop again and get off the cart. Then it goes back to protection mode. Solenoid? Controller? Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hi! Did you ever find the issue with this? My 2016 S4 HO is only 1 yr old and started doing the exact same thing last weekend! Please let me know what caused it and how it was fixed. Thank you!

Has anyone heard of this issue or know how to help? Looks like 2 of us have this issue. Called EZGO and they haven't heard of it and are asking me to bring it in-which I'm going to do but just wanted to see if there was others with the same issue or know of a fix I can do myself. thx.

Doesn't look like anyone is paying attention to this thread but I took the car in for warranty work and the computer threw a code that a solenoid sensor was bad. But once they ordered the part it didn't fix the issue. So they replaced the 1"x1" square relay switch that sits right on top of the main computer (right under the flap) with one off a brand new cart on their showroom floor and that fixed the issue! The techs said they've never heard of this issue and the part isn't even listed in their 2016 parts catalog.

Hey cool. Thanks for responding, I've been out of touch a bit lately. I ended up selling the cart (I fix and flip them as a hobby) to a woman who had little kids and liked that it was a good safety feature as she didn't want them going too fast. It's good to know that is what the deal was though. Thanks again!
