The 'ol LED digital meter hookup question.
There are many threads saying to run off the key switch for + and then run a 18 gauge wire back to pack - when installing a two wire LED meter. What I was wondering is my reverse buzzer is disconnect on my cart, why can't I just use the - lead from that? While still hooking the + up to the key switch. Since I have an OBC some say there should never be a wire off of pack - other then going to the controller B- (hope I got that right.)
For me that would be a much cleaner and easier install to use the reverse buzzer ground wire. Since wiring isn't my thing I'm guessing there is a reason not to do it that way, otherwise others would have done it prior to me. |

Re: The 'ol LED digital meter hookup question.
yea any 48v negative will do
the reason for the OBC b- controller hook up is so obc can see what power was used , the meter use is so small it will not effect your charge times |

Heck, I figure that if I'm running one wire back to the pack, why not just run 2, one for pack positive and one for pack negative. That way I know there is no interference with any other system.

Kashmir,
Doesn't that leave your Volt meter on all the time? Aflyer |

yeah, a lot of guys on here have them on all of the time. They use such a small amount of energy, I don't think it makes much of a difference.

Cruise Master, that wire is only negative when the Controller activates the reverse buzzer.

Like Kas' said, if I got to run one wire I'll just run two then. Having it on all the time is not an issue for me. Thanks everyone. |

Re: The 'ol LED digital meter hookup question.
I found a 48V ground in the dash, don't remember which wire now. I installed a double spade, single female to double male adapter on the hot side of my key switch to keep my meter powered all the time. I like to look at the meter when I walk by my cart to know what the voltage is at a glance.
You can wire to the keyed side of the switch to power the meter only when key is on if you want to. |

Re: The 'ol LED digital meter hookup question.
The Precedent has a black/yellow wire (negative) and a red wire (positive) dedicated for a voltmeter (always on).
I ran my positive to the key switch cold side as I don't need the meter ON all the time. |
