Default Carts Unlimited Converter

Is anyone using the Carts Unlimited converter 48v to 12v with the key switch integration on their precedent? Curious how you have it mounted and wired, and if you had to run additional wire to the key switch or just tapped the harness?

I will always run an addition red wire from the Key switch to the converter. Just my humble opinion ....i will jump the grand canyon before I would cut into a OEM harness, especially in an area that is prone to heavy contamination. ie Battery Tub.
Verify that you Fuse incoming & Outgoing Power

That’s a fair point. Can you elaborate on what you mean by “verify that you fuse incoming and outgoing power”? As in, ensure they have fuses in-line?

Would love someone to weigh in here to compare installations and make sure I’m gonna hit this thing right.

I’m no expert by any means. But from everything I’ve been reading on the forums you should wire it to your key switch instead of tapping into your harness. Although I have also heard that that is not necessary and you can just treat your reducer like a battery.

I bought it purposefully to wire it to the key switch.

There is a converter that will plug right into your wiring harness.

sounds like your question is where can I tap into the keyswitch (KS) wire to avoid running a wire up to the key itself, correct?
You will need a diagram for your yr and model specifically to answer that question. And the splice has got to be solid secure and protected.
It may just be easier to get a few feet of 16g wire and run it up to the dash like the installation diagram shows.

No I think I know I’m going to run a different wire.

The wiring diagram shows red and blue but not sure where they’re meant to connect?
