Default 2013 Yamaha Drive G29 Speed Question

Have a Yamaha Drive that went 12mph on the button and then speed code was added and it now goes up to 18.9mph on my handheld garmin which sounds about right with stock 18 inch tires. Mostly cruised up to 17mph and then after a while finally makes 19.

If I add 19, 20 or 22 inch tires will it boost it over 20mph?

Thanks.

yes, speed will increase with larger tires, but torque will also suffer. less hill climbing power, more speed lost while traveling up inclines.

Thanks for the response. Was looking for some low-profile wheels/tire combo. What is the biggest size I can get with stock, no lift kit? Any suggestions where to look online?

Thanks!

i dont know, i always end up putting street tires that rub because "thats what they want". i have to space the front bumper with washers & longer bolts (i use yamaha seat armrest bolts). i also pin the inner fender to the rear bumper with a "christmas tree" fastener.

I plan to put 12 inch wheels with low profile tires on mine in the fall. They claim that they don't require a lift. (I think they are less than 20 inches vs 18 inch stock) I see lots of G29's with that size without a lift. I don't know if they rub at full lock or not.

I know from info cgtech posted here before the AC PTVs come standard with 10" steel wheels and larger tires; aren't those about 20"? Yamaha specs don't give that dimension but do state they are 205/65-10 DOT tires.

Volt, did you ever get those bigger tires for your ydre? Curious exactly what size will fit for a couple more mph. Lots of conflicting info out there so i want to see who has actually made what size work. Thanks!

I won't be getting them until I get back to Arizona in the fall. Too *&^ hot there now.
