Fuel issues
I think i may have a fuel pump on the fritz or a needle and float acting up. This started when i did my recent motor swap. Sometimes, usually early into a trip out and if I'm running the cart hard it will act up and sputter and pop like its running out of fuel. If you back off the throttle and limp it, it will catch it's self and run like its has fuel again.
I pulled the fuel line off and ran the cart to see what the pump is doing. At low RPM it gushes fuel but i notice at higher RPM its slows considerably. Is that normal? right after putting the motor in i woke one day to gas all over the garage. I pulled the carb and found a large piece of trash in the needle and seat. It looked almost like a piece of gasket material. Made me wonder if the fuel pump it going bad. (It was completely rebuilt and cleaned before the new motor went in) The only other thing i can think of is the float/needle assembly is sticking and not allowing fuel in the bowl properly. |
