Engine size
What is a typical size stock engine for a 1993 gas clubcar in horse power?

Re: Engine size
It's a 286cc Kawasaki engine. The name is FE290D. It has 9.0hp and the later models have 9.5.

Re: Engine size
How well will this do with 8 inch lift and 27 inch tires. I'm guessing not to well

Re: Engine size
it will have trouble with initial get up, and maybe torque... but it will get up and go eventually...
i know a 22" tire, with 6" lift does well.. |

Re: Engine size
The amount of lift is irrelevant to power, the tire size is what determines power loss. And 27" tires will be pretty tough for it to turn. You can send you drive and driven clutches to Cart Parts Plus and have them machined, and ask for the springs to be put in both of them. Or a 23hp Vanguard would solve the problem.

Re: Engine size
I loved the FE290D motor. It came with my 94 Club Car. I put it in my 85 CC and it was fantastic. It had a 6 in. lift and 22in. tires. It did 23-25 pretty quickly. I'm still sorry I sold that cart. I put a 16 hp V-twin Kawasaki in the 94 CC and I will never go back to a stock engine. If it's possible to big block your cart, go for it. You will love it. I GPS'ed my cart yesterday with just me in it and I hit 40 mph. That's with a lift and 22 in. tires.
