PSA about Bandit field map for XCT500 controller
So I'm sure some of you more seasoned guys already know this based on some posts ive combed through in detail where i noticed something wasnt stated but assumed. BUT I was talking to Alltrax last night and asked for some field maps to double check some things and they told me they bandit was 8pole and i was like ummmm, according to plum quick website field map chart its a 4pole.
Anyway I've been experimenting and learning the whole XCT controller. I had the bandit motor v3 field map loaded direct from Scotty B and i confirmed it said it was loaded in the controller. I was doing speed run testing and watching the monitor and it said my RPM was like ~2000rpm near top speed on the flat, i was like wtf, there is a ton left in this thing what am i doing wrong. So then on the way back to the house I went down our biggest hill. I got up to 37mph!! and it said i was only at ~3400RPM...I'm like okay something is def wrong. I look and speed sensor is set at 8pole. I flip it to 4pole set it and go for a test drive. Now everything looks at it should for sure! Now down hill it shows me at 35/36mph at 6500rpm. Glad I didnt cook the motor! It went a few rpm passed my 6500rpm setting limit. Maybe up to 6650-6700 before it pulled it back down, it was only a quick blip though. Hard to watch the monitor and go that speed. Its intense. Anyway just wanted to share. The alltrax guy never seem to reply about it. oh well. |

Re: PSA about Bandit field map for XCT500 controller
The pole map setting is part of the field map. When a map is loaded it sets the pole count.
The bandit motor is a reworked stock motor. A stock motor is 8 pole. They may be putting a 4 pole magnet in it to allow higher rpms using the stock controller. (true as suspected) Maybe we can get somebody from PQ to confirm? I'll contact Alltrax today and see what they say about this. Edit = with a little searching I did find this field map chart. I'll share it with Alltrax asap. Thanks for the heads up |
