1982 36V - Need wiring schematic to add voltage regulator

Trying to help my buddy get an old 36v CC right! I don't know the slightest about the old 36v with the solenoids/resistors. Can someone direct me to the proper way to wire in a voltage regulator to the cart and ignition please? Not a whole lot of info out there for these old tanks!

Just make sure you pay attention to the key switch as some older carts have a negative instead of the more common positive key switch.

Club Car did not start using positive key switch until much later in the VGlide years.

If You want a key switch activated voltage reducer, the options are to either use a relay or just convert the key switch to a normal positive key switch.

I prefer the positive key switch conversion, using the diagram below:

Disconnect the two wires from the back of the key switch (#11 and #13) and connect them together.

Disconnect the wire from the speed box to the FNR pack positive terminal (#14) and connect to one side of the key switch.

This will be the "cold" or "switched" side of the 36v key switch.

Run a new wire (14 ga) from the other side of the key switch to the FNR location where the #14 wire was connected.

This will be the "hot" or "always ON" side of the key switch.

You can now install your 5 wire voltage reducer and connect the "trigger" wire to the "switched" side of the key switch.
