1995 EZGO - Good to Start With?
Hello all. Newbie here looking to build a cart for the deer lease and as a learning experience for my 11 & 13 year old boys.
I've been riding around my friends property the past couple of years in his 2000 Workhorse with 11hp Robbins engine. That thing has never let us down so I figured that a gas powered golf cart would be a good choice. Plus they look fun to work on! There is a '95 EZGO with a 295cc motor for sale here and I wAs thinking of buying it to start with. Owner says the engine has a "dropped valve" in it. It is not lifted and the top is missing. What should I be looking out for in selecting a rebuild cart? Whatever I get it needs to be able to haul 4 dudes with guns, have some good ground clearance, plenty of power yet not real noisy. We plan to do a LOT of hunting and cruising the ranch with it! |

The 95 metalist is my favorite ezgo, trouble is never been able to find a nice clean one, that one looks nice.
I'd rather have that T in the back ground though. |

I started out with 95 metalist, but my front cowl had dent in it so switched to the txt body style, think the material will hold up better then the sheet metal, for cruisin the the trails the 295 does just fine.

SteveBolt,
Do you happen to know if most of the aftermarket upgrades will fit this? At a minimum I will need to lift it, mount some big tires, rear seat, and eventually a big mill. HDPWolf, So you can innerchange the TXT body parts with a Metalist frame? |

The 295 may be a disappointment with 4 guys and a dead deer in tow ... It was designed for half of that without the bigger tires to rob torque... 95 medalist is still a txt which is the best ezgo platform generally speaking everything you want will be available including the BB kit

I guess it remains to be seen if he keeps a 295 in it, I mean it is blowed up and all if your going to replace it might as well go with a 350.
How much do they want for it? shouldn't be to much with a screwed up engine. You can change the body parts to an TXT, or even the ST cowl like on my carts. |

Scottyb,
What is the quietest/smoothest yet most powerful bolt-on I should look for? Or is there no such critter? |

They are firm at $600
good to know about the cowl interchangeability. I like the ST look. I would love to find a ST480. But for the money one starts approaching a Polaris Ranger. |

That 95 would be sweet for 2 guys and a rebuilt 350cc motor w/295 head (bolt right in) let your other 2 buddies buy their own.
