Should I test the motor?
I have a ‘94 club car DS 36v cart. Today it lurched and stopped. So far I have tested the battery pack, the solenoid, the key switch, etc. When you step on the gas the solenoid does click and I get 38.5 V coming out.
I’m thinking the motor is bad, but before I contort myself to reach in there to disconnect the wires from the motor terminals to test it I wanted to make sure I was thinking right. When I run my voltmeter from each of the terminals on the Motor to the negative battery terminal I show 33 V, then when I press the gas I show the full battery pack voltage. I believe this rules out the onboard controller and indicates that the motor is getting voltage and is not spinning.
I’ve messed up Motor terminals before trying to get the wires off so I don’t like taking them off if I don’t have to so I thought I would ask here first. Is that a pretty good indication that the motor is bad and I need to test it, or is there something else I should look at first?
