Re: Ausco rear disk brakes
The junkyard experience was very sobering. We were on a vacation when the master cylinder went out on the VW microbus but, that's another story. There was no other option to get the part where I was but the reality was that I could have been killed there 40 yrs ago.

Re: Ausco rear disk brakes
I am planing on installing the ameri torque rear disk brakes. Can anyone tell me if it is necessary to move or cut the original brake cable holder on a lifted onward? Are there any issues mounting the on top of the axle vs the bottom?

Re: Ausco rear disk brakes
I wasn't able to run them with the caliper on top. I think the actuator arm hits the leaf. No issues though with them on the bottom. Also, as Pingeye suggests paint all of the bare metal parts. I used roll bar paint and 2 years later they still look new.

Re: Ausco rear disk brakes
E36Racer,
Now that you've been running these for a while, do you notice any noises related to the pads dragging on these disk breaks? Or, any squeaking in general? I'm on the fence about getting this kit because I've heard they can be noisy. Thanks |

Re: Ausco rear disk brakes
The only time I know of the rubbing noises, on the half dozen carts I have installed them on at the club, was the first movement after the cart sitting all night and only at the slow speeds like backing out of the garage. Some squeaking there, but it goes away for the rest of the days use. It is more prevalent on a cart used on the course and running on wet grass or in the rain. A little surface rust forms on the rotor and causes the squeaking until it gets cleaned off. Humidity is heavier here in Orlando, so more moisture in the air for the surface rust to form, rain or shine. My 2 cents

Re: Ausco rear disk brakes
I have a new set here for a DS project. I pulled them out of the box to paint them, but the manufacturer has gotten the message and now all of the bare parts are plated.

Where's the best place to buy the kits for a precedent these days? I see Cart Parts Plus only has them for EZGO.

Re: Ausco rear disk brakes
They have them here, see link, with lead time of 6-8 weeks. It has been 8 weeks today I am waiting on lift kit from David at Revolution ordered from them. Best to Google search and call each vendor to see what is in stock. Not much anywhere these days.
