motor/controller
I have this motor, MFR P/N 5bc49jb1149, that is a yamaha high speed motor. It was in a wrecked ezgo along with it's controller. The motor is good but I need to replace the controller. What kind of controller will work with it and where do I get it? Will good instructions come with it?

Re: motor/controller
Google says
Yamaha G22 high speed motor Speeds up to 23mph with stock controller 4.3HP, sepex motor, mfg. by GE Use an XCT control to fit the cart you are installing this in, be it a G22 or a TXT/PDS. Use 400a for stock tires and flat ground. Or use 500a for bigger tires, added passengers, or hills, all of which increase the motor work load. You should ask whoever you get the controller from to program it for this motor. What controller did they have with it? |

Re: motor/controller
XCT48500PDS is what I would use.

Re: motor/controller
thanks scottyb. not sure i need one quite that big though. not gonna lift it or even put a back seat on it. just going to play golf. is there a smaller alternative that will work or should i stick with the big one? Also wondering if i could just get the one that was on it re-built.

Re: motor/controller
Skip the "rebuilt controller" nonsense, its throwing away money better spent on a new one. A 300a (stock size) controller will give only so-so results with that high performance motor. At least get a Alltrax 400a controller. Just a guess, but does your plan of playing golf include trips to & from the course plus neighborhood street use? If so, a 400a controller is your best $ spent. That motor is a great street/golf motor, you will be pleased with it. I have built lots of real nice G22s with it (and some Drives), and its probably my favorite for a 48v sepex yamaha for street use.

Re: motor/controller
you cannot"rebuild" electronics-only repair....all non replaced parts are potential failures waiting to happen...old solder joints, diodes, ect are as old and potentially as stressed as the component that failed....
i would replace it....we see a lot of failed "rebuilt" controllers.... |

Re: motor/controller
Speeding tickets ?
Excessive amp draw if the course is hilly or lots of slow going is always a hazard with a high speed motor. |
