Why does new solenoid continuously click?
1999 EZGO TXT DCS 36V new Trojans
When I bought cart batteries were bad and nothing worked. Bought new batteries still didn't work. Figured out controller fried so installed new Alltrax NCX 300 amp controller. Decide to upgrade solenoid so installed new SW180 Super 200a solenoid from ScottyB. Cart now runs except having a problem where when i let off the pedal and wheels stop the solenoid starts to click and clicks about every three seconds. Doesn't click while running. Turning key off doesn't make clicking stop. Flipping run/tow to tow makes it stop. Alltrax support person said motor likely had buildup of dust from brushes which created a "field" that makes controller think motor is still turning so controller is sending signals to solenoid to turn off. Said I need to blow out dust and try it. Just looking for other opinions before i take motor out and tear into it. Thanks in advance guys. |

Re: Why does new solenoid continuously click?
It sounds like your controller is making it click. I would bring up the PC application and see what inputs the controller sees that would cause it to energize the solenoid.

Re: Why does new solenoid continuously click?
That's not an option for this control. Alltrax techs are the best - I would be tagging the cables and dropping the motor myself

Re: Why does new solenoid continuously click?
Doesn't the key switch provide the positive power for the solenoid coil on those carts?
If that is the case, how can the controller activate the solenoid when the key switch is OFF? |

Re: Why does new solenoid continuously click?
took motor apart and lots of dust. blew out, cleaned, put back in and still have same problem.
when i turn key on solenoid clicks and ncx light blinks 4x then solid green. solenoid clicks every two seconds unless cart is moving - no click then. when i turn key off ncx light blinks 4x then solid green. no clicking. when i turn run/tow to tow green light goes out. |

Re: Why does new solenoid continuously click?
Something is wired wrong. In this cart when the key is off half of the solenoid activation circuit is off and the Alltrax control board is powered down eliminating the other half of the solenoid activation circuit. So you have (+) power coming from some other incorrect connection. I hope this helps
