95 Club Car DS Potentiometer Help
I tested the old potentiometer with ohm meter and it appeared the last two steps weren't working as meter only went to about 1740 ohms (even when pulling wiper with hand to last step). Ordered new potentiometer, installed, hooked everything up. Now, when testing with ohm meter, I don't get ANY reading other than 1 no matter how far I push the pedal. Cart is jacked up and wheels do turn but it appears as soon as it hits step one that the speed goes up pretty fast and never changes as I go through the potentiometer steps when looking at it visually as pressing pedal. Any clue what could be causing this? Entire reason I replaced potentiometer was because of the cart going so slow and figured this was the reason. I haven't road tested it again just yet as wanting to get a full charge on the batteries first but concerned now nothing on the ohm meter test and appears to be a single speed now.
Update: Just road tested it and it indeed does only go one speed. Good news is I know its capable of going faster now but that is the only speed it goes in forward and reverse. Whats odd is if I press the accelerator all the way down the motor stops too. Pedal now seems to be sticking and you have to manually pull it up or press brakes hard. Wondering if I got a bad potentiometer?? Scary to ride like this. |

Re: 95 Club Car DS Potentiometer Help
Update: Ordered new potentiometer and installed. The black wire coming from new potentiometer did not show continuity even from potentiometer to where I spliced it into the cable so I installed new black wire from pot to splice and now it doesn't go just one speed but is more like it was, slow slow slow. I can tell no difference in speed of cart, sigh, I thought for sure that would be it. Top speed with fully charged batteries on a straight away is maybe 7 to 8 mph slows to 4 or 5 going up a slight incline. Guess I'm about ready to give up and take it to a shop. Don't think this 95 DS has a speed sensor or limp mode does it? I couldn't find any.

Re: 95 Club Car DS Potentiometer Help
Should be going a little faster than that, but really wont do much more than 10-12mph depending on what voltage the cart is.
Is it 36v or 48v? Is your potentiometer the big pie shaped one with the copper bars in it? There were a few different versions of those and there's a chance it's just hooked up wrong. |

Re: 95 Club Car DS Potentiometer Help
What FT said. And, what color is the controller, and the serial number may help.
Also, if that is a V glide you are talking about they were used only on early 95 models and you have to have the correct one. |
