Thanks Dave! that's what I needed......I did not want to split the cases due to the extra cost, I should have no problems actually doing it.

TheGDFP, are you talking sending my crank & rod assembly and having it rebuilt for $120? Does that include crankcase bearings also?

I have a 91 I just took the motor out of this weekend. I will follow this post and chip in my luck as I go. Currently I believe I might have my jug bored with a new piston kit, seals and crank bearings. This is of course projecting, before confirming the problem.

Yep, roughly. Not including mains. They're about $40/set of 3

Terry, so $120+$40+shipping? What would be the advantage of doing this instead of buying the whole long block kit? Would it come back with the mains pressed on?

Yep, that's about it. I prefer to press the bearings in to the case, especially the doubled-up PTO side. Send the cases along and I'd put the bottom end back together. The extra shipping is about the same as a tube of Threebond. lol

Boring the jug you have, and rebuilding the crank, should save some cost over the kits, and have better quality work. You could have it done and assembled for about the same as just getting the kit.

Inspecting the BV18 I have discovered the throttle butterflies to be worn from the pressure of the shaft spring, the pictures are with me pushing the shaft back in with my finger. I would assume I should look for a BV24? Any opinions would be appreciated.
