2014 48V. Club Cart Moves 8 Feet, Then stops.. Help Please..
Hello All,
I am trying to help out a friend of mine who has a 2014 48V. Electric club car... He has just replaced all the batteries with new ones..... The problem is the cart only goes 5-8 feet then stops as if you turned the cart off... Take your foot off the pedal and press pedal again and the cart will move another 5-8 feet and stop.. It is just stopping and going.. Any idea what could be the issue?? Thanks, Ant... |

I assume this is a Precedent Excel cart, but we can verify the year and model if You find out the first 6 letters/numbers of the serial number.
The Excel cart will shut down immediately on a low voltage condition. Make sure all battery cables are tight and the connectors are free of corrosion. Make sure that on any battery stud that has more than one cable, the big high current cable is first and flat against the battery lead post surface. All other small wires go on top of the big one. If You don't have a voltmeter on the cart, clip the leads of your multi-meter to the pack positive and negative battery posts and notice the voltage as you try to accelerate. |

Did he charge the new batteries? Most people think new batteries are fully charged. They are not.

All Cables are good and tight,
I checked pack voltage and it was over 50V.. ( ill check today again) Ill get model number after work today at 330... One other thing that I noticed is the battery light on the dash is blinking.. It comes on for about a minute or 2 then shuts off for a minute or two and keeps on this pattern.. Thank you guys, Ant... |

Could be that the solenoid isn't closing and it's drawing current through the pre-charge resistor. Is the pre-charge resistor getting hot? Is it discolored? Disconnect it and it should only run 8 ft once and it won't start again.

I'm thinking like Jjance here. Do you hear the solenoid click when you try to go?

"VR" is a Villager 2 LSV, which, to my knowledge is nothing more than a fancy DS IQ with a 350 amp controller and a more powerful motor. I haven't seen an LSV since they did the tax credit thing in 2009 but I don't think they've changed much. The solenoid should be located on the driver's side of the cart right next to the on-board computer. Make sure it's clicking. If it's not, it may be bad.
