Default How hard can I run my g16?

I have the governor turned all the way and have the torque kit installed. My daughter and I will get in and go for a couple mile ride. Not floored all the time but close. It is a blast to ride. how hard can I ride it?

Couple miles wide open or close 2 that will not last long.

Use the best synthetic oil you can find, and change it frequently!
I you run too many RPM you will float a valve. (bent valve)

I would use the best synthetic oil. Don't run it WOT for long periods, you have to hear and listen to the engine. Short bursts at WOT should be fine.

I say if the governor is made to adjust that far its safe. I have a g16 been running it for a month with the governor turned all the way in WOT every where I go same with a buddy of mine who has had his for over a year now and the carts seem to love it.

Depends on how your valve springs are designed. I've seen some motors run WOT with no good results. The guy had the governer all the way in and floated a valve. That's usually a valve job and a piston.
Golf carts are designed at the factory for 14 mph max. That's why they are govrned so slow. usually 3400 rpm. I would keep it at 4200-4300 for more life. 4600 is too much for the motor design(probably). It's your $$$.

I bought my 2000 G16 5 years ago. I turned the gov nut all the way to the last thread. I have two pedal positions, full on or completely off I have changed the oil on a regular basis with Mobil 1. About a year ago, I installed a larger main jet and a K&N air filter No regrets. Some people have bypassed the gov completely and run the cable directly to the carb for max. speed. In my opinion this is asking for trouble. the cart will quickly over rev. resulting in undue stress and wear on the motor Sooner than later, the motor will go From then on, your walking I prefer not to walk. We have had the cart on extreamely long drive down in San Felipe (Baja), and around Yuma Arizona, Some of those drives have been as much as 40 miles with periodic rest stops. No problems Yamaha has a great durable cart, enjoy the ride
