You may have undersized the winch for the job due to the angle of incline you chose.
I'm just saying, check that out before you go off on the company.
Thanks for the heads up on that Scotty and I will do my homework on that before I go ape sh!t on them lol..... I just assumed that if a recovery winch is rated at 3000lbs that it should pull a 1500lb cart up a big hill... But you know what they say about assuming, it will make a a$$ out of us both.... What confuses me is theres nothing in there description about this on any of there winches and they compair there product to warn... I know this isnt apples to apples but if you buy a 10,000lb rachet strap too secure a 8,000 truck to a trailer you wouldnt expect that too fail? Monday Im gonna weigh my cart also before I contact this company....

My suggestion is just put it all in the original box, Take it HF and tell them it broke on the first use and ask for an upgrade exchange

It didnt come from HF but the maker has a life time warranty and Im sure they will take it back.... I do agree with asking for a upgrade and starting to wonder what size winch I really need? Im building this cart primarily for deer hunting but plan on running the piss out of it too on trails out side of deer season

Another thing, this isnt a utility winch like Ive seen people talk about using on here... Although I did have a 2000lb utility winch on the cart breifly I found out quick that it wasnt enough and got a 3000lb atv recovery winch thinking it would be strong enough.... Guess I need a 10,000lb warn for my 1,500lb cart

A 2000 lb winch only can pull 2000 lb on the first layer of cable wrap (cable fully extended), each cable layer after that decreases the rating 15%. Since you can have up to 5 layers of cable you can quickly turn a 2000 lb winch into a 1000 lb wimp by not pulling enough cable out.

Add the drag of a stuck cart and/or an incline and you quickly need more lb rating even for a 1200 lb golf cart.
