1992 Club Car Moves When F or R is selected???????
My 1992 electric club car moves, with key off or on when forward or reverse is selected. I noticed this the other night when I drove it around the island parked it and hooked up the charger. Went to the garagemahal and it smelled like wires burning. So I unplugged the cart. It was totally dead the next am. After work, I put the charge back on and that is when I discovered the problem with the selector switch. With the brake on it could not move so it sat there with minimal forward motiong making the resistors overheat. What the heck is the problem? I put it in neutral to hopefully salvage the batteries.
Thanks, Burnsidedawg |

2 things. the carts not wired right. THe key should turn power on /off to the microswitch and the micro should activate the solenoid. We need to know what type of drive system your cart has. Does it have resistor coils lined up behind the batteries?

Re: 1992 Club Car Moves When F or R is selected???????
Yes it has the resistor coils behing the batteries. I've had it a year and it has never done this before. Occasionally when driving very slow, the coils will heat up and have an odor, but nothing like what happened the other night. Nothing has been changed since I have had it.
I.e. no new wiring changes. |

Re: 1992 Club Car Moves When F or R is selected???????
Check the gas peddle return. You can do this with the key off and the cart in neutral. push the peddle down and release evenly as you would when driving. In other words do not sidestep off of it just let it return under some foot pressure. Now 2 tests can be made. 1= reach down and pull the returned peddle up. Is there any movement left? If so 2. remove the clip on (3) cover from the V-glide at the end of the throttle cable.... do the same test and see if the wiper arm has returned to the last copper button. MY guess is it is not returning all of the way...look for a gas peddle return spring adjustment.

I'll try this on my day off tomorrow and see if it works. Just wondering why it would still move with the key off though? Oh well. THanks

It could be the solenoid is stuck in the on position AND the Throttle pedal or throttle indicator (V-glide) is not returing all the way?
