Default EZGO Honda motor swap

So I have an EZGO that had the 2 stroke gas engine. Plan is to take that motor out and put in a Honda 9 hp motor. Any advise or recommendations? Ideas for clutches?

Your going to want a bigger engine than 9hp.
If you're doing the work, why not go for one of the bigger ones, 12-18hp(advertised)?

If you're cart has the original 2 cycle transaxle, it won't have reverse. The 2 strokes actually spin backwards to achieve reverse. You'll lose reverse if you use a 4 stroke engine.

A 9hp single cylinder engine will work fine, you won't be winning any races or anything. It'll be very similar to stock golf cart power. For that engine clutching will be key. What size crankshaft does that engine have?

Just bear in mind the cart is going to be SLOW. The governed clone versus the original 2 stroke the rpms are going to be at least 1/3 less. Beyond that a primary clutch to use the clone is going to be $200 or so. The option I used after TONS of research for my Harley cart was a snowmobile engine. There were quite a few of these swaps on youtube and it did work. The question on your cart would be "is there space" to fit a sled engine. You can see what was needed to do the sled swap in my thread in the sled section.BUT all that being said IF the low speed isn't an issue then the clone engine would work. Of course the easiest thing is to keep the stock engine.
