since it only needs to "go" for 6-7 seconds

If a drag cart holds 600 amps for 6 seconds and the power pack holds 100 volts then you need to put back 600 amps @ 100V for 6 seconds or 300 amps @ 100V for 12 seconds or 9.375 amps @ 100V for 6.4 minutes or 3600A @ 100V for a second. Of course the power source will not hold a steady 100V and the load will not hold a steady 600A so your charge power will vary from the ideal calculations and don't forget losses.
yes i see your point but it only uses 600a at 100 v for 6 seconds

so that would be 6000 watt seconds

now if it ran for an hour then it would be 60 kwh

so in that 6 seconds it would use 1 kwh

at least thats how i understand it

This formula applies to low and high voltage capacitors:

E = 1/2 * U^2 * C

Where
E = Energy in capacitor in joules
U = Voltage in capacitor in volts
C = Capacitor capacitance in farads

but then he would have to get by the over voltage problem....

whatever the config of caps

they would charge to the lines peak voltage

and even half waved would be 160 volts

Yeah, after having several discussions with Nate over the past few years about Supper Caps- Batteries- lithium iron magnesium phosphate -Lithium-ION Battery- AC-DC-motor & controllers. But the point being, he has made my head hurt on more than several occasion. If you are interested he will always explain & in full detail. But never all at once & never with out making you think. And that’s the part he likes the most.
