![]() I have a 48v 1996 CC soon to have a 36V PQ motor
- 4 passenger - lift kit - currently running 22x11x10 I want to go with 24x11x10 will I gain or lose anything by doing this? Such as speed or torque? do I need to change my stock gearing or can I keep it the same? I am going to get a 400amp controller soon to. thanks in advance |

![]() Hopefully others will chime in here but this is what I have gathered from reading tons of posts on here. If you go to 24" tires, you will have tons of top end, but you will suffer some in the torque zone. I have a Plum Quick 36Volt rewound motor and love it. I can chirp the tires so there is lots of torque in reserve, but to turn 24" tires will take a lot.
As far as the controller you will want at least a 500A controller for 2 reasons. One you will want all the amps available to turn those big wheels, more amps equals more torque, and secondly, it has been said here before(i cant prove or disprove) that a 48V battery pack maxes out at 500A anyway, so a larger one would be a waste of money. Hopefully others will chime in if im wrong on this info. Call Plum Quick and tell them what you have and end results desired...they sell motor/controller packages also....and they are great guys to talk to. |

![]() If I were you I would leave things alone for enough time to really test the new motor with your current tires, going up small hills, straight aways, etc.

![]() thanks, for your help maybe i will stick with the 22x11x10. also, i got a really good deal on a 400amp controller. Will the 400amp controller at least be noticable compared to the stock one?

![]() What did PQ say when U described this to them. There is a lot of experience there so ask?
Also I am sure even though U did not mention it BUT, you are upgrading to #4 Gauge wires ? And the Heavier Silver Solinoid ? |
